A wide variety

The reason that Santander is well known is its wide variety of beaches: El Sardinero, La Magdalena, Bikinis, and Mataleñas are just a few. La Magdalena, Bikinis and Los Peligros are beaches protected by the Magdalena Peninsula. They are located at the foot of Paseo of Reina Victoria, an ideal setting for enjoying the good weather sheltered from the area’s dominant winds during summertime.
Playa del Camello beach owes its name to the shape of one of its rocks. It is the perfect place to enjoy the sorroundings, located at the foot of the Magdalena Peninsula.
A pristine condition

The El Sardinero area is famous for its fine sand beaches. It is also home to Primera Playa- First Beach- a popular meeting spot for swimmers, families and sport lovers alike.
Further down we come upon the Piquio Gardens, an splendid vantage point that provides a fantastic panoramic view and where the Segunda Playa –Second Beach- of El Sardinero begins, which is not less important than the first. Mesones Park is a lovely place for both children and adults.
A coastal path

Mataleñas park, with a coastal path that borders the Lower Cape (Cabo menor) and reaches the Upper Cape Lighthouse ( Faro de Cabo Mayor), is great for playing sports or simply admiring the amazing scenery with the always- present sea. It also leads us to a new, quiet beach; Mataleñas. Nearby is the beach Los Molinucos.
Santander’s beaches are the backdrop for numerous sports, social and cultural events, including surf, volleyball, paddle ball “ palas” and football competitions
